Some difficult-to-motivate patients were considered to need physical appointments, but in some cases the telephone contact provided an opportunity to establish contact with patients who would otherwise be discharged from the clinic due to missed visits. The results also showed that telephone contact with patient who was motivated to stop using drugs worked well. Many of the caregivers wished to combine physical visits with telephone visits in the future. (Less)
