- Abstract (Swedish)
(Less) - Abstract
- The demand for digital tools in schools has increased over the years and today it is a requirement from the Swedish National Agency for Education to use digital tools in mathematics. Digital mathematical tools can provide students with automated feedback and teachers can adapt their teaching strategy based on data from their students’ progress. Even though there are multiple advantages of including digital mathematical tools, there are tools that are time-consuming and which distract students.

The thesis was performed in collaboration with Studentlitteratur, which is a leading publisher of educational materials in Sweden. The aim was to, with a focus on interaction design, develop a digital tool for mathematical calculations for students between ages 13-15. This was done through a user study, with the purpose to gather data and identify needs. Thereafter four design iterations were performed, which culminated in a high-fidelity prototype. The prototype was then evaluated together with teachers and university students and it was well-received. (Less)
