Extremvärdesanalys av havsvattennivån i Skanör

Karlberg, Viktor LU (2021) STAN40 20201
Department of Statistics
Abstract
In May 2020 the Land and Environment Court concluded that Vellinge municipality are granted the right to build a total of 21 kilometers of walls and embankments for protection against a rising sea water level.
To analyse this problem an Extreme Value approach is applied to sea level data from the area. Both Block Maxima and Peaks over Threshold models are fitted and return levels are calculated. A return period estimate of the 1872 storm, Backafloden, is also determined and analysed for both models. Both models seems fairly reasonable with Peaks over Threshold being the superior one.
