Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
Abstract
The focus of this study it to investigate the status of the Norra Bunn lake and the challenges it is facing today then to address these issues accordingly with a focus on water resources management for a better fish stocks conservation.
To achieve the objectives, various literature reviews, data collection from different sources and on-site water samplings are carried out.
The study results show that the lake is suffering from excessive chemical compounds of mercury, mercury associated compounds and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs); oxygen deficiency in the deep water during summer; potentially ongoing brownification development; excessive nutrients load coming from household discharge although there is no strong indication that... However, due to the complex nature of each challenge, no direct countermeasure is proposed in this study rather several approaches are proposed to achieve sustainable fish stocks conservation. (Less)
Popular Abstract
To protect the fish stocks in the lake, the status of the Norra Bunn lake situated in Jönköping is investigated and the challenges it is facing today are identified. Following that, the approach to solve these issues are proposed accordingly.
In this study, various literature reviews, data collection from different sources and on-site water samplings are carried out.
The study results show that the lake is suffering from excessive chemical compounds of mercury, mercury associated compounds and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in the fish; lack of dissolved oxygen in the deep water during summer; potentially ongoing brownification development; excessive nutrients load coming from household discharge although the lake is not likely...
