- Abstract
- Cost efficiency is important in the society and more or less relevant in most building projects. When designing fire safety in a building, cost/benefit analyzes can form a basis for decision-making, in order to provide proposals for the most cost-effective solution for the object. In this report a model for calculating cost/benefit is developed. The proposed model is an Excel-tool that can be used when alternative designs of the fire safety in a building are to be analyzed and compared. In the tool, both building and life cycle costs are included. The tool is exemplified with a case study on an office building in Sweden, in order to try it and to compare possible designs of the building.
