Abstract (Swedish)
Även skillnader i arbetstillfredsställelse. Skillnaden... (More)

(Less)
Abstract
The study aims to investigate work motivation and job satisfaction among two different groups of nurses linked to Herzberg's two-factor theory, Self determination theory and internal/ external motivation. A comparison between continuous employed nurses and hired nurses was performed. More specifically, differences and relationships of hygiene factors and motivational factors between the two groups were examined, also differences in job satisfaction. An analysis was conducted through a t-test as well as a correlation analysis. The data were collected through a survey (N = 722). The result showed significance in the difference in measured hygiene factors between permanent and temporary employees, where permanent employees received a higher... (More)

The result showed significance in the difference in measured hygiene factors between permanent and temporary employees, where permanent employees received a higher score in the hygiene factors. The result did not show any significance in the difference of measured motivation factors. However, the hired employees were measured to a higher score. The hired employees experienced a greater total
job satisfaction. A significant positive correlation between hygiene and motivation factors showed r = 0.582, which provides empirical support for previous research and the established theoretical picture. All in all, it can thus be said that the biggest difference is found in the hygiene factors, but that the difference between all constructs is relatively small between the
groups. Hence, the groups of permanent employees and hired nurses are comparatively equal and both follow what is predicted by the theory. (Less)
