- Uppsatsen behandlar ämnet slöjförbud i Sverige. Syftet är att undersöka hur en svensk partipolitiskt obunden organisation, som arbetar med hedersrelaterat våld och förtryck, konstruerar deras ståndpunkter om slöjförbudet samt hur de tillförskriver attribut till slöjbärande kvinnor som kan bli påverkade av slöjförbud. Materialet består av en skrift från den slöjkritiska organisationen ”Glöm aldrig mordet på Pela och Fadime” (GAPF). Genom den diskursanalytiska metoden och verktyget ”What’s the Problem Represented to be” undersöks bakomliggande antaganden, förutsättningar och problemformuleringar.

Några fynd från analysen är att GAPF beskriver att ett slöjförbud kan medföra främst positiva, frigörande och jämställdhetsutvecklande konsekvenser. De beskriver och konstruerar slöjan som en symbol för religiös indoktrinering och ett verktyg att segregera kvinnor och män. Vidare konstrueras slöjan som en symbol för ett icke- jämställt samhälle, där sexualisering och kyskhetskultur av kvinnor sker. I sin tur leder detta till bibehållen hederskultur. Dokumentet konstruerar att slöjbärande kvinnor behöver, genom samhälleliga åtgärder, skyddas från det förtryck som slöjan står för. Vidare konstruerar dokumentet kvinnan ska få utrymme att frigöra sig från de livsstilsrelaterade roller och förväntningar som slöjan för med sig. (Less) - Abstract

- The subject in this thesis is ban of veils in Sweden. The aim of this thesis is to examine how a Swedish non-party political organization, that works with honor related violence and oppression, constructs their positions about a ban of the veil, and further how they prescribe attributes to veiled women who can be affected by the ban. The analyzed material is a publication from the Swedish veil-critical organization ”Glöm aldrig mordet på Pela och Fadime” (GAPF). With the discourse-analytical method and tool ”What’s the Problem Represented to be”, the underlying assumptions, presumptions and problem formulation can be examined.Some of the results from the analysis are that GAPF describes that the ban of the veil canbring mainly positive, liberating and equality-developing consequences. The organization constructs the veil as a symbol of religious indoctrination and a tool to segregate men and women. Further, the organization describes that the veil symbolizes a non-equal society, where sexualization and chastity culture of women takes place. In turn, it leads to a preserved honor culture. According to the discourse constructed in the document, women who wear the veil are in need of societal actions in order to be protected from the oppression that the veil symbolizes. Further construction is that a woman should get space to release herself from the lifestyle-related roles and expectations that the veil brings with it. (Less)
