Abstract (Swedish)

(Less)
Abstract
Due to the covid-19 pandemic telework became a regular workday for many white-collar workers during a period of time. Whether the traditional workplace is desirable for workers to be continued working from or not may be of interest to employers to know.
The aim of this study was to examine how municipal workers in the white-collar sector experienced telework as well as perceived their productivity and group cohesion in the workplace before and during the covid-19 pandemic. The aim also included what importance this had on their desired work arrangement. Previous research about how productivity and group cohesion is affected by the workers' telework is limited.

The collection of data was founded based on twelve qualitative semi-structured interviews with white-collar municipal workers, who tele-worked during the pandemic and had limited experience of telework beforehand. Our findings showed that the participants experienced greater productivity due to telework, and group cohesion was generally perceived as unaffected by telework. However the physical office was of great social importance, which in many instances affected the participants desire to return to the office. All of the participants wished to continue with the flexibility of telework. (Less)
