This study aims to increase understanding of parents’ experiences of taking care of their children, suffering from anorexia. The focus of this study lays on parents’ emotional experiences. This study is done through the analysis of three autobiographies, written by parents to the children with anorexia. The data was analyzed by means of abductive thematic analysis as well as sociology of emotions theoretical perspective. Research indicates that parents of children with anorexia go through an exhausting emotional experience. For being able to help their children to overcome the illness, parents must first process their own emotions, caused by and connected to the illness. Parents need both a deep understanding for those emotions and professional help with emotional processing for being able to provide a good treatment for the young patients and to help them to overcome the illness.
