Möten på myren

- Abstract (Swedish)
(Less) - Abstract
- Between Sattajärvi and Tärendö in Tornedalen, Sweden the mire Kaljuvuoma extends out in the forest landscape. It has been an important site for a long time, where both haymaking and raindeer handling have been two traditional uses. It is also a place that has potential to be strengthened with architecture.
My project is an exploration of architecture as a tactic and strategy in rural development and its ability to create or strengthen relationships to a place.
The startingpoint in the design has been the local and historic context, while creating something for the future. The goal has been to design something small scaled, site specific and locally sourced and something that positively can impact the nearby village.

The result is two timber structures on the mire. For work, rest, the private and the shared. A meeting place - sustainable not only ecologically but also socially and economically. (Less)
