Problem representations of men’s violence against women - A policy study on the Government Offices of Sweden’s policies on men’s violence against women
(2022) SIMZ21 20221Graduate School
- Abstract
- This thesis aims to analyse problem representations in the Government Offices of Sweden’s policies on men’s violence against women with the use of Carol Bacchi’s (1999) critical policy analysis approach “What’s the problem represented to be?” (WPR). The thesis's theoretical and methodological point of departure is closely connected to the WPR approach, but with the inclusion of definitions of violence, gender, gender-based violence and the idea of doing gender. The study finds that underlying premises of how men’s violence against women in policies from the Government Offices of Sweden both produces and reproduces a binary understanding of gender and consequently contributes to gender inequalities.
