- Abstract
- Inside the Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SNBIC) are juveniles who are receiving treatment from pedagogues and assistants that are frequently threatening their caregivers. The threats consist of physical and verbal behavior. This type of working environment can be very bad for one's well being. The study focuses on investigating how the staff's well-being is affected by working in SNBIC. Client-centered therapy and coping theory were used to analyze the results from this study. The results were based on four factors: relationship building, handling of violence, motivation to work and job satisfaction. Despite the fact that results have been identified it must be noticed that the study is performed on a micro level which is too small for making general conclusions. The results are also consistent with previous research done on the subject. (Less)
