This activity, which fulfills an incredibly essential function in society and constitutes work that affects society and not only the individuals in need of care, is lacking in the management of community homes where its participation appears to be insufficient. With the intention of describing the young men's personal perceptions and experiences, the collected data will consist of semi-structured interviews. The young men's perspective on the effect of the treatment regarding motivation and what they consider to be the origin of it, is intended to result in better knowledge about streamlining care. With this as a motive, the study will consequently be based on questions that include the young men's motivation for change and what possible influence, according to the young men, the treatment measures have on the promotion of the motivation, which in turn contributes to facilitating the return to a drug-free life. To answer the questions, the data will be analyzed in relation to existing theories, reports, legislation and previous research. The main conclusions of the study are that the motivation for change is primarily self-triggering in the form of purposive replacement activity, the feeling of autonomy and that this is designed in a supportive environment. Regarding the impact of treatment measures on motivation, we have concluded that there are efforts that help but that the effect of treatment is maximized when the individual himself has a purpose to find a motivation in the change process that will further promote an addiction-free life.
