Abstract
The aim of this project is to design a solution to a payment system for people that have a diagnosis of intellectual disorder. This target group has problems with today’s payment system because it becomes successively more digital. With the digital solutions will the target group be excluded. I have been thinking of the question “What would happen if cash was removed as a payment system?”. I have been doing many interviews to get the best, real world information of the situation. I have also been reading doctoral dissertations, essays and reports to back up the information from the interviews.

The aim of this project is to design a solution to a payment system for people that have a diagnosis of intellectual disorder. I have been thinking of the question “What would happen if cash was removed as a payment system?”. I have been doing many interviews to get the best, real world information of the situation. I have also been reading doctoral dissertations, essays and reports to back up the information from the interviews.

Three concepts on potential solutions were made. The concept with a ”digital wallet” was chosen and then the techpack was researched on. The size and form of the product was made in different iterations, were done in cardboard, foam and was 3D- printed. Iterations were also made of the information on the screen.

The result became a digital device that replaced the credit card. It has a screen with information about the balance so the person has an overall knowledge and can ask for help if needed. The screen also consists of pictograms of the steps that the payment routine has. The product, that is
called ”Enkla”, will be easy to take with you and will make an easy payment with only a “blipp” and an identification with a fingerprint on the thumb. The form is made so it is comfortable to hold, intuitive to maneuver and minimize the risk of dropping it.

The conclusion of this project is a well thought out payment device that will be
a bridge between the person and the digital world. (Less)
