- Abstract
- This thesis explores the growing interest in sustainability in the cosmetic industry, particularly focusing on the rise of natural cosmetic products. The study adopts an explanatory sequential mixed methods design, incorporating quantitative analysis of patent data from the European Patent Office between 2000 and 2022, as well as qualitative insights from expert interviews. The findings indicate a significant increase in the number of cosmetic patents that include natural and plant-based ingredients. The thesis examines the potential reasons behind this trend and explores how cosmetic companies are responding to the heightened demand for environmentally friendly products.
