Drawing on Securitization theory, the study concludes, among other things, that there are a number of tools within the speech-repertoire of decision-makers that contribute disproportionately much to the likelihood of successful securitization, including what this study calls ideological dichotomization, problem evolution and scope expansion. Further, the role of the policy-community within the security-policy process was shown to be less impactful than predicted by the Multiple Streams Framework. (Less)
