- Abstract
- Environmental pollution stems from industrial emissions to the air, soil and water. This has resulted in many areas being contaminated today by, among other things, heavy metals, petroleum hydrocarbons and PAHs. Approximately 86.000 contaminated sites have been identified across Sweden. Identifying contaminated sites enables inventory and risk classification. Therefore, the method for the inventory of contaminated sites (MIFO) was developed by Naturvårdsverket in 1999. The purpose of risk classification is to determine the extent of the contaminated area ́s impact on human health and the environment. The aim of this work is to classify the risk of two properties in Eslöv municipality: Laxen 4 and Hassleröd 2:49. At Laxen 4, there was... (More)

The aim of this work is to classify the risk of two properties in Eslöv municipality: Laxen 4 and Hassleröd 2:49. At Laxen 4, there was previously a mechanical workshop, and now metal processing is conducted. At Hassleröd 2:49, there was previously a gas filling station along with a car workshop. Today, only the car workshop is in operation. The work consists of a MIFO phase 1 study, which aims to classify contaminated areas into risk classes 1 to 4 through literature and archival studies. Risk class 1 has a very significant impact on human health and the environment, risk class 2 has a significant impact on human health and the environment, risk class 3 has a moderate impact on human health and the environment and risk class 4 has a minor impact on human health and the environment. To achieve this, five criteria need to be addressed: the danger of the contaminants, the level of contamination, the conditions for spreading, sensitivity and protective value. The result led to Laxen 4 being classified as risk class 3, while Hassleröd 2:49 was classified as risk class 2. (Less)
- Popular Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
