Abstract
A transition away from our current degenerative and linear economic system is urgently needed, as we are living beyond the means of our planet and have already transgressed 6 of the 9 planetary boundaries. A new approach to sustainability must be embraced to regenerate nature and society and move humanity to a just and safe space. As finance plays a crucial role in the sustainability transition, regenerative finance must be developed and explored. In this thesis a framework of regenerative finance was created, rooted in academic literature and key concepts surrounding regenerative sustainability. This framework was used to perform a desk review of the CSRD and GRI reporting standards, in order to determine if they aligned with a regenerative vision of sustainability and finance. The results were that the CSRD and GRI did not align with a regenerative vision, meaning that sustainability reporting standards must evolve to encourage a regenerative future. (Less)
