This essay aims to discover how fashion students at Lunds University perceive the clean girl and mob wife aesthetics with a photo elicitation method that reveals their tastes and connotations related to the aesthetics. The discussion between the informants proceeds from photos they think represent a clean girl and a mob wife. The main research points are to find which attributes the informants think are required to live up to the clean girl- and mob wife- aesthetics, but also if they think it is good or bad taste and what femininity clean girl and mob wife represent. The essay found that the aesthetics are depicted in different ways based on the informants' answers. By implementing theories of Pierre Bourdieu's Symbolic Capital, Taste and Habitus, Mimi Schippers's understanding of Pariah- and Hegemonic Femininities and the dichotomy of clean/unclean by Frykman and Löfgren, the essay discusses the microtrends with the perspectives of lifestyle, femininity, personal taste, social hierarchy, hygiene, and the embodiment of clean girl and mob wife through the social and physical body.
