Abstract
This study examines members of parliament's perceptions of lobbying in Sweden and analyzes how these perceptions relate to the deliberative democratic ideal. The study is based on qualitative face-to-face interviews with eleven members of parliament from different parties and committees. The results show that the members of parliament have a complex view of lobbying, where they recognize both its potential advantages and disadvantages. The study discusses how lobbying can affect representation, openness and the quality of the democratic conversation, as well as the members of parliament's ability to critically review information.
