Abstract
In Tvååker, Halland a project by the name of Naturplats Tvååkers Mosse is under development. The project is a nature area to be opened to the public, and is aimed to inform visitors of how the landscape has developed since the latest ice age. To do this, a number of signs are to be put up, including information for which this report serves as a basis. The report focuses on a number of landforms in and around the area comprised of a sequence of end moraines as well as a beach ridge. The questions of when and how these were formed relative to the course of the latest deglaciation are answered through map analysis, literature search, field work, sediment sampling and analysis. The results show that it is possible to connect the beach ridge... (More)

The questions of when and how these were formed relative to the course of the latest deglaciation are answered through map analysis, literature search, field work, sediment sampling and analysis. The results show that it is possible to connect the beach ridge complex in Naturplats Tvååkers Mosse to that in Kärragärde, where previous studies give the beach ridge an approximate age of 7.0 ka. This also connects their formation to the regional postglacial transgression maximum. The end moraines are associated with the Halland Coastal Moraines with ages of about 17.4–16,0 ka, and are interpreted as push moraines. Coarse particle size fractions of sediment from the eastern beach ridge demonstrate very angular shapes, giving an uncertain interpretation of the formational process, but this could be explained by three factors: the sediment has its origin from closeby till, the angular material has been buried and protected from erosion, the sediment has been affected by wind abrasion. Further studies in regards to the aforementioned processes are recommended, particularly because sampling was done which makes future luminescense dating possible. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
