- Abstract
- This thesis examines how different fleet ownership models, most notably wet-leasing, have an effect on European airlines' safety performance. Aircraft leasing has expanded significantly across the modern aviation sector, offering operational flexibility at the same time as adding complexity to the management of safety issues. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining quantitative analysis of accident/incident data with qualitative data obtained through industry professionals' semi-structured interviews across a variety of different segments.
