This study aims to examine and compare attitudes towards drug-related problems, professional work with individuals experiencing such problems, and harm reduction interventions among professionals in social services and adult psychiatry in Malmö. The study is based on a quantitative cross-sectional design, with 150 respondents completing a digital survey that included three established instruments: ABI, DDPPQ, and HRAS. The results indicate some significant differences in attitudes between the two groups, while overall attitudes were largely similar. Furthermore, associations were identified between attitudes and factors such as education, age, and frequency of contact with individuals with drug-related problems. The study contributes knowledge on how organizational contexts and professional backgrounds influence practitioners’ attitudes and highlights the importance of professional discretion in everyday practice. This has implications for how care and support are structured and experienced by clients and patients with drug-related problems. (Less)
