The collected data, containing newspaper articles, has been analyzed on the basis of the critical discourse analysis, CDA, which is a mould of a textanalytical method. This study applies a social constructivist perspective. The following conclusions, among others, could be reached in this study: among those reality descriptions that were constructed about Rosengård in the daily and evening press during the spring and summer of 2008, Rosengård was presented as a dangerous and threat full concrete suburb full of "immigrants". The picture of Rosengård as a problematic "immigrant suburb", were outsidership and social problems constitute the inhabitants' everyday existence, dominates in the press. Rosengård as a geographic area, together with its inhabitants comprising the "immigrants", must thereof stand as representative for all the things that "we" consider as unknown and deviating. Rosengård, together with its inhabitants, have in other terms in media contexts become objects for territorial stigmatization. (Less)
