Abstract
Student recruitment? - Three teachers? thoughts concerning children's first experiences in municipal arts and music schools. The aim of this thesis is to explore three teacher' experiences of recruitment of students to arts and music schools. The thesis includes thoughts about how teachers can inspire students and why the orchestral string bass is an infrequent choice of instrument to study. I have examined the issues through a qualitative study where I have interviewed three licensed string bass teachers of different ages and backgrounds. The discussion chapter includes four headings. Student recruitment? - Three teachers? thoughts concerning children's first experiences in municipal arts and music schools. The aim of this thesis is to explore three teacher' experiences of recruitment of students to arts and music schools. The thesis includes thoughts about how teachers can inspire students and why the orchestral string bass is an infrequent choice of instrument to study. I have examined the issues through a qualitative study where I have interviewed three licensed string bass teachers of different ages and backgrounds. The discussion chapter includes four headings. Within these headings, interesting facts from the theory chapter are compared with facts from the result chapter. The result shows that when the teacher focuses on the student's learning needs/desires he will create a positive, fostering atmosphere in and around the creative arts school, which in turn makes the process of recruiting new students easier and more attractive. The result also showed that new teaching climates demand new pedagogic and motivational ideas.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att utforska tre lärares tankar om rekrytering av elever till musik och kulturskolor. Det har också kommit att innefatta tankar om hur läraren inspirerar elever och varför de tror att kontrabasen är ett instrument med få utövare. Jag har gjort en kvalitativ studie, där jag intervjuat tre lärare i olika åldrar med olika bakgrund men som alla undervisat eller undervisar kontrabas. Diskussionskapitlet innefattar fyra rubriker. I dessa rubriker låter jag intressanta fakta från teorikapitlet stå mot innehållet i resultatkapitlet. Resultatet visar att när läraren sätter eleven/barnet/individen i centrum så skapas förutsättningarna för bra rekrytering och en fortsatt kreativ skolgång. Resultatet har också visat att en ny tid kräver nya idéer. (Less)
