- The purpose of this study is to investigate different experiences of domestic, socio-cultural and political life of Bangladeshi diaspora women, living in Scandinavia (especially in Sweden and Denmark). This has done by analysing different life experiences of 22 women (11 in Malmö, Sweden and 11 in Copenhagen, Denmark) who have all been living in these western societies as immigrants. The study includes aspects such as the dilemma of being an immigrant diasporic woman in a western cultural context. - The purpose of this study is to investigate different experiences of domestic, socio-cultural and political life of Bangladeshi diaspora women, living in Scandinavia (especially in Sweden and Denmark). The theoretical discussion focuses on the contemporary understanding of the term Diaspora as well as the different aspects of gender discourses (women's roles) among Bangladeshi immigrant women in the western cultural context as compare to South Asian context. The study also demonstrates the different tendencies to uphold religious and cultural practices of Bangladeshi women in the diaspora as they try to maintain their own identities as Bangladeshis or Muslims in the alien societies.
