The theoretical discussion focuses on the contemporary understanding of the term Diaspora as well as the different aspects of gender discourses (women's roles) among Bangladeshi immigrant women in the western cultural context as compare to South Asian context. The study also demonstrates the different tendencies to uphold religious and cultural practices of Bangladeshi women in the diaspora as they try to maintain their own identities as Bangladeshis or Muslims in the alien societies.
