Varför partipolitik? - en intervjuundersökning om partipolitiskt engagemang bland unga

Abstract
Why participate? Many studies focus on explaning non-participation in politics. The political parties are loosing members and the particiaption of young people are given extra attention. This thesis is about young people who do participate in party politics. The question is how they experience their participation and how they feel that they can have a politcal influence by being a member of the youth section of a political party. Why did they get involved in party politics? The analysis is based on eight semi-structured interviews. These interviews are analysed from the viewpoint of theories about an increasing individualization and reflexivity that leads to a changed political behaviour.

The results from the interviews indicate that family, school and friends influence political intrest a great deal, but that this influence are more implicit than explicit. There is also a lot of reflexion in the choice to get involved in party politics. The parties ideological standpoint are emphazised. The persons in the interviews seems to feel that they get a lot out of their involvment at the same time as it is described as something that takes up a lot of time and space in their lives. (Less)
