- This study has been conducted in order to try to clarify how one as a piano teacher, by the choice of teaching material and method of teaching, can influence the process of learning. The study deals with novice teaching and more specifically first semester teaching. I have studied three books, their methods and how they take on the task of introducing music and piano playing to novice students. I studied three groups of novice piano students during the autumn of 2005. For twelve lessons each class worked with one of the following three books: "Vi spelar piano 1" by Carl-Bertil Agnestig, "Pianogehör 1" by Åsa Söderqvist- Spering and "Spela piano med ADAM". The first section focuses on the books while the second section focuses on the methods of teaching.
The results show how the choice of teaching material as well as method of teaching may influence the classes and indicates how a piano teacher may reach his/her goals.

Detta arbete har genomförts för att försöka klargöra hur man som pianolärare kan påverka undervisningens riktning och elevernas kunskapsutveckling med sitt val av undervisningsmaterial och arbetssätt. Uppsatsen behandlar nybörjarundervisning och då främst den första terminens undervisning, där jag studerat tre olika böcker, dess metoder och hur de tar sig an uppgiften att introducera en nybörjarelev för musik och pianospel.Tre elevgrupper har undervisats under vars 12 lektioner under hösten 2005, varje grupp har jobbat konsekvent med en av tre utvalda böcker. De tre böcker som uppsatsen omfattar är Carl-Bertil Agnestigs ?Vi spelar piano 1?, Åsa Söderqvist Sperings ?Pianogehör 1? samt Adam Zimnys ?Spela piano med ADAM?. Undersökningen har gjorts genom aktionsforskning, datainsamlingen består av audioinspelning av lektionerna samt loggbok och presenteras i två delar. Den första delen fokuserar på böckerna, medan den andra fokuserar på undervisningen. Resultatet visar hur valet av läromedel och arbetssätt kan påverka undervisningen och ger indikationer på hur man som lärare kan jobba för att uppnå sina mål. (Less)
