- This essay mean to describe treatment in foster care in a special method called Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care. My purpose is to study the cost and consequences for break down in family placement through to MTFC-method with starting point in one particularly case. The MTFC-method treats adolescents with chronic delinquency and antisocial behaviour. It’s an alternative to residential treatment. - This essay mean to describe treatment in foster care in a special method called Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care. My purpose is to study the cost and consequences for break down in family placement through to MTFC-method with starting point in one particularly case. The MTFC-method treats adolescents with chronic delinquency and antisocial behaviour. It’s an alternative to residential treatment. The purpose is for the youth to learn behaviour through a behaviouristic model with points to be able to establish in the biological family in one year. A break down in a placement for treatment describes as a placement in day care that ends suddenly and not planned. Youth with a chronic delinquency and antisocial behaviour have break down frequency on 45-65 per cent. MTFC is evaluated as a low cost treatment compared to residential care and so far in placements in Sweden the break down rate has been 11, 8 per cent. In the essay I present a real case placed in MTFC until break down. My result has shown that compared to the planned year treatment the extra cost was 90 200 SKR. An ordinary placement cost 900 000 SKR in one year. In the long run extra nonplanned costs are not good for the community. That’s why evaluation is very important. A break down, as well as a placement in the first place, is a huge interruption in that person’s life. (Less)
