Abstract
My essay is a qualitative study and the purpose was to find out how social work conducts to a great number of varieties of ethnic. The questions asked were: - How do the social service work in conduct with ethnicity? - How does it show in the meeting between youth immigrants and social workers? I interviewed six professional which all work in the social services. Through my interviews I came to the conclusion that social work with ethnic people demand a lot of understanding and knowledge about different cultural and psychosocial methods. Through my interviews I came to the conclusion that social work with ethnic people demand a lot of understanding and knowledge about different cultural and psychosocial methods. But I can't say through my few interviews I could get some significant conclusion. Social workers have to deal with several obstacles in meeting. They have to deal with different culture that they have to be ware of and also there own culture background. There is a risk, both from the society and the individuals that they see all ethnic people as a collective group instead to see every person as a unique and as an individual person. You also has to be ware of that there is no neutral frame of reference, we all see our culture through a filter which we interpret and value the reality with. (Less)
