- Abstract
- The purpose of this essay was to describe and analyse how patients at a swedish methadoneprogramme have changed their lives since they enrolled the programme, and which significance their social networks have in their lives and in the changingprocess. The following central issues are discussed in the essay: 1. How do the interviewpersons describe their lives before they enrolled the methadoneprogramme? 2. In which way have their lives changed since they enrolled the programme and how do they experience their present situation? 3. Which significance do their social networks have in their lives and in the changingprocess? 4. How do the interviewpersons look upon the future? - The purpose of this essay was to describe and analyse how patients at a swedish methadoneprogramme have changed their lives since they enrolled the programme, and which significance their social networks have in their lives and in the changingprocess. The following central issues are discussed in the essay: 1. How do the interviewpersons describe their lives before they enrolled the methadoneprogramme? 2. In which way have their lives changed since they enrolled the programme and how do they experience their present situation? 3. Which significance do their social networks have in their lives and in the changingprocess? 4. How do the interviewpersons look upon the future? I have used qualitative interviews in my investigation. Totally I made seven interviews, with two women and five men. In the Symbolic Interactionism, which has been my theoretical background, people form the pictures of themselves and lifephilosophies in interaction with other people. In my essay I have written about other peoples importance when a heroinaddict is trying to leave the "drugworld" and enter the "conventional world". This means that I havn't focused so much on the methadone itself, but more on the "complements" needed to make the new life meaningful and worth maintaining. (Less)
