- Abstract
- The aim of this research was to study how adolecents view their future and to illuminate how family circumstances, class belonging, ethnicity and school influence this view. Our main questions was as follows: · How do the adolescents family circumstances look like? · What importance has family and friends for the adolescents? · How does the adolescents choice of upper secondary school look like? · How do the adolescents view their future working situation? · How do the adolescents think that their lifesituation look like in ten years? - The aim of this research was to study how adolecents view their future and to illuminate how family circumstances, class belonging, ethnicity and school influence this view. Our main questions was as follows: · How do the adolescents family circumstances look like? · What importance has family and friends for the adolescents? · How does the adolescents choice of upper secondary school look like? · How do the adolescents view their future working situation? · How do the adolescents think that their lifesituation look like in ten years? As an theoretical perspective we used the theories of Bourdieu and the theory of the socialization process. The parents level of education and working situation influence the adolecents view of the future. The parents profession and living situation indicates a class difference between the adolecents. No conclusions can be drawn from our research if class belonging has an impact on the adolecents view of the future. Many of the youth are optimistic about their future working situation. The future aims of the participants are similar and are focused on work, education and family life. (Less)
