Abstract
The purpose of this essay was to examine how immigrants of the first generation experience the integration in to the swedish society from the six factors: identity, culture, language, codes, individualism/holism and network. Our questions were: What does integration mean to the immigrant? Does the immigrant feel integrated and what is it that contributes to the fact that she feels or not feels integrated? How does the immigrant experience the possibilities to influence the integration? The study was based on interviews with six immigrated women. In the essay we have analysed and compared the interviews to relevant literature. Our conclusions are that integration isn't always something exact and measurable that can be defined from outside,... Our conclusions are that integration isn't always something exact and measurable that can be defined from outside, integration is also to a great extent a subjective experience of the person. Further we found that the person can experience being integrated to different extant within different areas.

(Less)
