- Abstract
- The aim of the present study was to investigate the background, efficacy and theories behind a parent education program. I came in contact with this program during my practical fifth semester at the Bureau of Family Treatment in Lund. The training program originates from the United Kingdom, where it was called Mellow Parenting. The goal of the parent education is to enhance parent-child relationships by reinforcing supportive behaviours of parents and altering non-productive or harmful behaviours. The program is originally developed for younger children at age 0 -5. I have studied this program from the literature and by interviewing professional people working with the program in Sweden. In this paper I describe the program and the history behind it. I also present the interviews and I discuss the Swedish program from different aspects. (Less)
