Abstract
The purpose of this essey was to examine the latemodern family and what impact the latemodern family life has had on the children. This has been achieved by taking the concept of family and individualization as a starting point, and viewed in the light of a historical retrospect. My questions at issue were: · What processes in the development of society has contributed to create the conditions of the latemodern family? · What are the characteristics of the latemodern family? · How can the concept of individualization be understood in context of the latemodern family life and childhood? · What influence has the latemodern family life had on the individual and the child? The essey has been based on a literature review, and can be viewed upon as a theoretical qualitative study. The study has been hermeneutical and I have related my pre comprehension to the hermeneutical spiral. I have by working on this essey come to the conclusion that there has been an increased individualization of the individual during time. Different social processes and changes in society has made a contribution to this development. The development has influenced the family and with that the individual. (Less)
