Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyse and describe the homelessness in the city of Lund. More specifically the aim was to describe the problem from different actors' points of view. The central questions were: How does the problem with homelessness appear in Lund? For what reasons does homelessness still exist according to the actors who come in contact with the problem? Who is responsible for the homeless people's situation according to the actors who come in contact with the problem? What efforts are made to prevent and decrease the homelessness? And how could the problem be solved according to the actors who come in contact with the problem? The study was based on eight semi-structurered interviews made with eight different actors;... (More)

Who is responsible for the homeless people's situation according to the actors who come in contact with the problem? What efforts are made to prevent and decrease the homelessness? And how could the problem be solved according to the actors who come in contact with the problem? The study was based on eight semi-structurered interviews made with eight different actors; two social workers, two politicians, three interviewees from non-profit organizations and one representative from a housing company in Lund. The analysis was based on the theory of social constructivism. The conclusions were mainly that there is a stereotype in the community that the interviewees do not wish to confirm. The view on who is responsible was very different among the interviewees and the answers were not unambiguous. They disagreed on how much you can demand from the individual as well as from the involved organisations. We also found that the interviewees believe that everyone has a right to a home, and that almost everyone wants a home but not everyone is capable of living in a regular home. The reasons for the homelessness in Lund seemed to be various, for example the housing shortage, substance abuse and a disturbing behaviour among the homeless. (Less)
