The independent engineer In the current financial crises, a vacant job is an article in short supply. Good competence and academic titles are no longer a guarantee to receive an employment after examination. These circumstances require a capacity to see opportunities outside the box. When the labor market no longer can offer any jobs, there is two alternatives. Await an opportunity or create an opportunity. The engineer student learns to have a good command of his future job, receive a problem, find a structure and solve it. But what happens when the engineer does not get the chance to show his skills. Does the engineer have the qualifications of a entrepreneur, to survive on his own and see opportunities that no one else can see. However, is this a problem in our education? Does the engineer student transform to an employer? In the document two students investigate the spirit of entrepreurship thru a real perspective. With almost no signs of success will the students gather earlier experiences from the education and try to See the opportunities to make it on their own. They introduce the company Nielsen&Schvili Arkitekter witch they manage and review. Most of the work will go to the first project, witch is a neighborhood with 42 apartments. Here we present the architect proposal, building permit and the technical problems that hampered the work. The need for injection of entrepreneurial in the engineer program is discussed and the opportunities to follow trough are examined. The outcome from the study interpreted to mean that it is absolutely possible for two students with no earlier work experiences to start and manage their own company. The reason why no one else tries it is probably because of the traditional engineer programs without any entrepreneur courses, and the general perception that it is complicated and complex to start up a business. The result of entrepreneur injection was a positive response from decision-makers at LTH Campus in Helsingborg, which will review opportunities and interest in an implementation. (Less)
