Project Waterloo, Washing Concept for a Mobile Waste Bin Washer
(2009) MMK820Innovation
- Abstract
- Problem: To develop high performance washing concept, while being simple and
environmentally friendly. The concept is to be used as a base for more
detailed design of a mobile waste bin washing machine where the driving
force is the demand for cleaner working environment.
Method: The market is researched in order to evaluate the competition as well as to
get a deeper knowledge of the problem at hand. Multiple washing
concepts are investigated, such as pressurized- heated water, steam
blasting, dry ice blasting and granular washing. Tests are performed using
water based cleaning and granular washing. Water circulation system
including filtering of the washing water is discussed as well as
recommendations for further development of... (More) - Problem: To develop high performance washing concept, while being simple and

recommendations for further development of the concept.
Conclusion: The main conclusion is to base the system on relatively high flow, low
pressure heated water in order to achieve high performance washing and an
overall simple machine. Recommended pressure is 15 bar and 65°C
temperature. Circulation system with filtering is essential. (Less)
