Some professions have big differences in the distribution between men and women, for example in social work. My purpose is to analyze what managers in South East Skåne think about this issue. The study is based on interviews with five managers from different municipalities. I have also used previous research and different theories.
The conclusion is that it is very difficult to have any influence in gender integration. There was no one among the managers who believed that the method would improve the process. The answer to this is that quality is valued higher than the uneven distribution between men and women, according to the managers. Other factors were also the lacking of interest among men to work with healthcare, and a lower status. The final factor was the difference in culture between men and women. (Less)
