- Denna psykologexamensuppsats undersöker användbarheten av den nya svenska versionen av The Adaptive Behavior Assessment System – second edition (ABAS-II), ett standardiserat psykologiskt instrument vilket bedömer adaptiva färdigheter via föräldra- och lärarskattningar. Tjugofem föräldra- och lärarskattningar gällande ungdomar/elever i gymnasiesärskola, varav majoriteten hade diagnosen mental retardation jämfördes med normerna för instrumentet ABAS-II. Resultatet visade statistiska signifikanta lägre adaptiva färdigheter hos deltagande ungdomar. Likaså visade denna studie att instrumentet kan urskilja styrkor och svagheter i adaptiva färdigheter hos deltagarna vilka i sin tur kan ligga till grund för vidare insatser och interventioner. En... Resultatet visade statistiska signifikanta lägre adaptiva färdigheter hos deltagande ungdomar. En statistisk signifikant skillnad mellan föräldra- och lärarskattningarna framkom även, där lärarna tenderade att skatta högre adaptiva färdigheter än föräldrarna. Därtill framkom en statistisk signifikant positiv korrelation mellan föräldra- och lärarskattningarna. Den svenska versionen av ABAS-II kan anses vara ett användbart instrument när det gäller att kartlägga och bedöma adaptiv förmåga hos ungdomar i gymnasiesärskola om både föräldra- och lärarskattningar genomförs. Twenty five parent and teacher ratings on adolescents/students in upper secondary special school, the majority with the diagnosis mental retardation, were compared with the norms of ABAS-II. The result showed statistical significant deficiencies in adaptive skills in the adolescents/students as compared with the norms.
