The purpose of this essay is to find out what part the piano plays in country music. The research includes an interview with an artist from Texas and an analysis of five chosen music examples. The research question is: What part does the piano play in country music and how can that knowledge influence my teaching as a piano pedagogue and class teacher in music? The study concludes that there are different parts for the piano in country music. There is also a specific interaction with the singer that is shown through some different techniques. Finally it presents how this can affect the role as a piano pedagogue and class teacher in music through different ways of teaching about country music, theory, interaction and improvisation.
Syftet med denna uppsats är att ta reda på pianots roll inom countrymusiken. Detta görs ge-nom en intervju med en artist från Texas och en analys av fem utvalda musikexempel. Den övergripande forskningsfrågan är: Vilken roll spelar pianot i countrymusiken och vilken betydelse kan kunskapen om detta få i min undervisning som pianopedagog och klasslä-rare i musik? Fyra resultatområden framkommer och dessa är Pianot som rytminstrument, Pianot som lead-instrument, Pianots samspel med sångaren/sångerskan och Pianots influen-ser från andra genrer. Studiens slutsats är att det finns några olika roller som pianot har inom countrymusiken. Det finns också ett specifikt samspel med sångaren/sångerskan som visar sig med hjälp av några olika tekniker. Slutligen presenteras hur detta kan påverka rollen som pia-nopedagog och klasslärare i musik genom olika sätt att undervisa om countrymusik, teori, samspel och improvisation. (Less)
