Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine what migration means for love immigrants- people who have moved to and live in Sweden to be with someone they love. More specifically its aim was to find out how migration process for love immigrants looks like, what obstacles, opportunities, gains and losses migration brings. The study is supported by migration crisis theory, which demonstrates... (More)

Furthermore, I’ve examined how a Swedish partner / husband can be a resource for his partner / wife coming from different culture, during the migration process and what this assistance depends on The study was based on six qualitative interviews with three female love immigrants and three Swedish men, who have an established relationship with those women. The study is supported by migration crisis theory, which demonstrates common features and some differences within the theory. The result of my study shows that love immigrants go through a comprehensive process that activates emotions, which are of an unconscious nature. Love immigrants go through emotional stages that are experienced by people in crisis and one more crisis that is specific for the love immigrants, which is called in this study for the love immigration crisis. The survey also shows that the love immigrants have great motivation to learn the new language and integrate into Swedish society. In the study, I have also come to the conclusion that it is difficult for a Swedish partner / husband predict what his partner / wife as an immigrant needs in the new society. The help or introduction as a Swedish partner / husband can offer depends on their personal circumstances, but not on the fact that they are Swedish. (Less)
