- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to examine the school social workers and social workers view upon the collaboration between the two. This material was analyzed on the basis of two theories; communication theory and five ethical principles. To gather informa-tion about the subject we searched for useful literature. This material was analyzed on the basis of two theories; communication theory and five ethical principles. To gather informa-tion about the subject we searched for useful literature. This study showed the impor-tance to have worked at a social service office before working as a school social worker. Three of our informants have earlier worked at a social service office and they also claimed that they had a well functioning collaboration with the social worker. According to our study and earlier research it was an advantage to have a field social worker placed at the school. To prevent delayed and non existing reports it was important that the social workers informed the personnel at school about their work and how to do a report and what will happen after it. The study also showed the significance of feedback from the social worker after the school social worker re-ported the suspicion that a child might be harmed. (Less)
