Abstract
This essay is about conditional expressions in Japanese. It covers the expressions –tara, -eba, to and nara. The purpose of this essay is to try and define each expression and show the differences and similarities they have. Each expression is given its own part in both a grammar and a semantic section. After that this essay will compare them in the way they are used in the sense of “when” and “if”. Result is shown in a table and the whole subject of conditionals is discussed as well as a short part about what sort of research that could still be done in the field.
