- Abstract
- The use of operating procedures at a nuclear power plant is of great importance. But improper composed procedures will increase the probability for mistakes. An inspection of the operating work at Ringhals AB carried out by WANO, has shown shortages in the way procedures are used. WANO suggests that procedures should be graded according to their importance of safety for the facility and for usage. In this master’s thesis a model that is recommended from IAEA has been selected and further developed with the assistance of all current operating procedures from one unit, Ringhals 4. The further developed model involves four categories for grading procedures: continuous procedures, checklists, reference procedures and information procedures.... (More)

The further developed model involves four categories for grading procedures: continuous procedures, checklists, reference procedures and information procedures. For each category there is also several requirements for use of a specific procedure. The existing area for development, handling and maintenance of operating procedures at Ringhals nuclear power plant has also been revised. It provided a number of areas for improvement. Some of them are fundamental for the requirements that are used for grading operating procedures with the model described above. There have also been identified difficulties at Ringhals with the handling of temporary operation procedures, among others they tend to increase in numbers. This master’s thesis gives a recommendation on how many simultaneous temporary operation procedures that could be managed and how the total number of temporary procedures could be decreased. (Less)
