The questions we aim to examine are obstacles and enabling factors associated with the introduction and implementation of a Swedish project in an Indian context. We have introduced a Swedish project from Save the Children Sweden, named Ellen. The project is adapted for the Indian context and re-named Lalitha. The project has its foundation in The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and aims to work with young women's rights. We have introduced the project to five women who previously lived in an orphanage. After the introduction the women became leaders for discussion groups and implemented Lalitha at the orphanage, where they previously lived. We have made an implementation study and investigated this phenomenon through semi-structured interviews. Our main result is that the enabling factors are different aspects of the participants understanding, ability and will. Obstacle factors are the Indian context, the societal structures that impede change. (Less)
