Abstract (Swedish)
On a commission of E.ON Värme Sverige AB an assistance tool has been developed to guide and systemize the energy survey process at the company's small scale heating plants. This has led to the development of Energistegen which with its information manual, "Manual how to perform an Energy Survey at Small Scale Plants", and its calculation tool, "Form for Energy Survey".
This aim is to simplify the process for the plant manager to identify cost effective actions for energy savings. The manual and the calculation tool are therefore adjusted with suggested actions suitable for the small scale heating production. The survey is limited to energy flows within the gates of the plant, excluding optimizing of the combustion process.

Energy efficiency and the economizing of resources are treated in Swedish legislation and should be seen as means to achieve international climate goals. External requirements from the supervising authorities and the internal requirements from the company group therefore calls for an action plan for energy efficiency. Energistegen aims to be a help during the survey and the development of an action plan for the small scale plants and through that fulfill the demands.
A barrier that has been identified towards energy efficiency in the company is a difference in priority towards greater focus on production optimizing when it comes to time and investments. Other barriers consist of lack of incentives for energy savings, when there is a lack of data to estimate the cost together with increased risk for disruptions in the production.
It is possible for the management group to limit these barriers and create a clear driving force to work towards energy efficiency by giving appreciation and make good use of the companies’ real enthusiasts along with developing clear strategies and policies.
Earlier work for energy efficiency within the company has generally been done with the help of Energiloopen®. This work has been a support in the process to adjust Energistegen towards suitable suggestions of action. A compilation of the result has therefore been done of earlier work methods.
Energistegen has been applied at four pilot plants with the aim to test the applicability of its concepts and scope. The respective plant managers have been involved in this work. This has also been done in a way to estimate the tools saving potential and whether the energy surveys are economically profitable.
The result from the pilot plants indicates that there is a good saving potential including both electricity and fuel. In a cost effective way is it possible the increase the profit at the small scale plants and at the same time reduce the negative effect on the environment from the energy conversion process. (Less)
