Abstract
ABSTRACT
The domestic violence among lgbt - persons is a social problem and should be treated as such. Until now it has not been investigated as much as domestic violence amongst heterosexuals. The science and research about domestic violence in homosexual couples has failed to find solutions to this problem, and still today it is taboo to speak about other forms of violence than “man hitting woman”. Hence when homosexuals seek help they suffer from the lack of competence regarding violence in homosexual relationships, and, as the ”treatment” often tends to scare off the help seekers, they don´t ask for help. The aim of this essay is to examine the theses that homosexual men endure more sexual abuse and homosexual women endure more psychological abuse in their relationships. It will also show different models explaining what could make people become violent. It is based on four interviews with different professionals, representing the group of study. The results of the study, among others, is that an intersectionality perspective as well as the childhood environment and the social education affects the violence. And, the most common form of violence is psychological violence.
But before all, this essay is an attempt to encourage people to learn more and talk about the problem that domestic violence in homosexual couples constitutes. (Less)
