Abstract
The purpose of this report is to evaluate the fire safety of Tekniska nämndhuset in Huddinge. The focus of the report is on the safety of people during evacuation in case of fire. Property and environmental damage has not been taken into consideration. Tekniska nämndhuset is an office building accommodating several administrations within Huddinge municipality, there is no co-operation regarding fire safety between the different administrations. Approximately 300 people work in the building. A gym facility and several conference rooms are also located in the building. Simulation software was utilized in the evaluation, CFAST for fire simulations and Simulex for evacuation simulations. Four fire scenarios were analyzed. The evaluation concludes that human safety in case of evacuation is presently unacceptable. Necessary safety measures are proposed and discussed. The three most important measurements are to install fire detectors in the entire building, to revise the electronic access system so that the doors will be able to open without a key in case of fire, and an additional emergency exit solution for the gym must be worked out.
