(2011) NEKM01 20102Department of Economics
- Abstract (Swedish)
- The purpose of this thesis was to study whether gender inequality in the OECD-countries has an effect on economic growth during the period 1980-2007. The variables used to measure gender inequality were chosen based on their inclusion in the UNDP’s Gender Empowerment Measure and measures women’s access to political decision-making, jobs with career advancement as well as jobs with decision-making aspects.
The fixed effects model employed in the econometric analysis found no evidence that the constructed gender inequality variables within this sample of countries has an effect on economic growth.
